JOBURG ZEN

Joburg Zen is my next novel. The MS is now complete, 120,000 words, and the new journey to find a publisher begins for Alex Lago, Book 2. It’s the true story of golfer Bobby Locke and the unspeakably tragic legacy he left behind. A novel about Joburg and Yeoville in the early-’90s, and those faces and people who have faded into the shadows of my memory. Crazy days. Really, there were few places as insane as inner Joburg back then.

Here’s the first paragraph!

December 28: 9.20am

On a ruthless Sunday morning in Zürich last week is when I got to thinking that all the story I was working on needed—Hall of Fame golfer, murders, shootings, drugs, airplane crashes, death pacts, cult leaders, and all of it set in sunny South Africa—was someone in Joburg to tie-up a few loose ends. And on that squalid, hopeless December morning before the first snows of January, I got to thinking that someone may as well be me.
